Guys, I would really appreciate it if you could email me suggestions for poll questions. There must be something you want to know peoples' opinion on ;)

Hi John, Yah, it was quite a game, I was actually up 3 pawns in the white side of a Gruenfeld, certainly should have won, but Doug outplayed me in time pressure and came up with an amazing windmill/mating net.

Great results for Keith, Matt & Doug and Mike. I'd like to see Doug's Swindle over Bob.

KW doesn't appear to have aged much since I last saw him some years ago. Can you post any games? As I recall, a rather Fischeresque approach, similar to both Bailey and Pushkedra. Say hello tohim for me if you can

Keith has beaten up Hamilton once again. When are we gonna suck it up and stop this guy?

We are not posting pairings this week for Summer Series because there are several players who say they may join but haven't given a full commitment. Pairings will be made on Friday when we know better who is playing.
The same issue may apply next week as well since there are some players coming back from the Canadian Open and it’s not clear how it will affect the tournament.
Congratulations to Razvan Preotu for winning first place in the Hamilton Junior Chess Championships with 4.5 points. Honourable mentions go to Risto Pulendzouski who came second with 4 points and Matthew Nyhus and Henry Sun who tied for third place with 3.5 points each.
A tie breaker did take place for the third place trophy which Matthew was able to hang on and win in a second blitz game after holding the first game to a draw even though he was down a queen.
Just one example of the many exciting games that took place: Matthew and Razvan were playing in round 5 and even though down an exchange Razvan managed to escape with a draw.

One of our small brown clocks did go missing during the tournament. If you happen to take it home by accident please return it to Hamilton, Burlington’s or Mississauga’s chess clubs. You can also email us at -email- and we can try to make arrangements to get it back. The junior chess club runs on a small budget and if we don’t get the clock back it will probably go un replaced.
Summer Series Our next Friday Series begins July 18 and will be one game a week until August 22. Spring Series Tentative Pairings for Round 3 are up
With 2 additional players in our tournament this week it is turning out to be a pretty good success. You can click on the following results to see the tentative pairings for round 3.
After several days of hair pulling I finally figured out why our site went down. Initially I thought we had a faulty router; but, it turns out a windows update knocked out our web server.
The server's error log was a wopping 500 megs, so, the document must have been spammed from the moment the site was knocked out.
Anyways, hopefully we will be up for a long long time now.
Spring Series Tentative Pairings for Round 2 are up
Chess seems to be doing pretty well in Hamilton this year as the Friday Series we planned a year ago (May 07) didn't have enough players to get started.
But things started well this time around and the first round was played without a hitch. Results and tentative pairings are now up. Just click on the link below to check them out.
Keep in mind the posted pairings are tentative only, and can change. And don't forget if you need to request a bye, try to email us by Thursday at -email-
For 2008 Hamilton will have had 2 weekend chess tournaments. Should Hamilton have more weekend chess tournaments each year? Don't forget to clock on "comments" below and tell us your reasons why.
